Food For Your Brain

By expanding the motivational side of the brain which boost us to go further in life, the food is also fundamental part in everyday life. Like it or not, if the brain doesn’t get the food he needs he is not going to listen to us at all. How are we going to satisfy the smartest organ that is controlling our body? I made a list of few super foods that are great food for your brain and definitely going to electro-shock it and activate the mean-machinery.

Blueberries or so-called “Brain berries” are one brilliant source. These so-called Brain berries have a big role in helping protect the brain from oxidative stress (an imbalance between the production of free radicals or “group of atoms behaving as a unit in a number of compounds” and the ability of the body to counteract or detoxify their harmful effects through neutralization by antioxidants) and may reduce the effects of age-related conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Studies have shown that diets rich in brain berries symbolically improved the learning capacity and motor skills of aging. It’s recommended to digest at least 1 cup of these blue little things in any form – fresh, frozen or freeze-dried.

Nuts and seeds are good source of vitamin E which corresponds with less cognitive decline as you get “gray”. This is vast group that has a lot of choice (you may find some of your favorite): almonds, Brazilian nuts, cashews, flax seeds, hazelnuts, hump seeds, peanuts, pecans, pie nuts, macadamia nuts, chestnuts, pine nuts, pistachios, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, walnuts. It’s better to eat them raw since they still have full constitution of all the benefits because if they are roasted and exposed to heat, they may lose some nutrients. Although it’s not the end of the world if you eat them roasted, just try to eat more raw.

Whole Grains such as oatmeal, brown rice and whole-grain breads can reduce the risk for heath disease. We all know that every organ depends on blood flow in the body. If we keep the body blood flow normal, we will also support the brain, as simple as that.

Avocados are stated to be fatty fruit, but monounsaturated fats contribute to healthy blood flow. As I mentioned before healthy blood flow, healthy brain. Avocado lowers blood pressure and as hypertension (abnormally high blood pressure) is a risk factor for the decline in cognitive abilities, a lower blood pressure will support brain health. Avocados are as good as the “brain berries” but as they consist high amount of calories, it is good to eat 1/4 or 1/2 a day. As we are familiar with the not-so-fancy taste of avocados we can use it as a side dish or we can search some online recipes.

Wild Salmon is a deep-water fish rich in omega-3 (essential fatty acids) which are essential for brain function. Omega-3 also contain anti-inflammatory substances. Other oily fish that provide the benefits of omega-3 are sardine and herring. It is essential to inject these sort of water creatures 2 up to 3 times a week.
