Good warmhearted actions benefit in every way possible. Sometimes we can even think that making good deeds it’s even selfish…
It rarely occurs to people to perform good deeds with good intentions without the need to get something in return. They refuse to accept the fact that making the good deed itself provides the feeling of self-worth.
When you read the following warmhearted things to do to make someone’s day, imagine what would you feel like if the things were done to you. What a great feeling!

1. Give people compliments
It is astonishing that compliments became so rare, we barely give any, ever.
National Institute for Physiological Sciences claims that people doing exercises appear to perform better when another person compliments them. When we receive compliments the striatum (part in the forebrain) is activated and it seems to encourage the person to perform better during exercises.
It is not definite that these study holds true in other cultures, but giving a compliment can never be done with bad intentions, unless you’re being sarcastic about it!
2. Make jokes
Joke is an act to cause amusement or laughter, especially a story with a funny punch line.
Jokes connect to laughter and laughter is the best medicine.
Laughter relaxes the whole body. A good, hearty laugh relieves physical tension and stress, relaxing our muscles up to 45 minutes after.
Laughter boosts the immune system. Laughter decreases stress hormones and increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies, thus improving our resistance to disease.
Laughter triggers the release of endorphins, the body’s natural feel-good chemicals. Endorphins promote an overall sense of well-being and can even temporarily relieve pain.
Laughter protects the heart. Laughter improves the function of blood vessels and increases blood flow, which can help protect us against a heart attack and other cardiovascular problems.
Even Biblically speaking, joking itself is not regarded as sin, although in some instances, it certainly can be.
Joke whenever you can, although all may not understand your humor. Sometimes you even need be prepared to be ashamed of not being understood.
Even making someone’s day has a price!
3. Leave an extra large tip for the server
Part of it is a domino effect, social psychologist Deborah Serani of Long Island, New York, told ABC News. People with cash to burn see a “pay it forward” case on the news and realize they can also help.
“There is a social contagion factor to this generous kind of behavior, but I think it goes way deeper than that,” Serani said. “On an evolutionary level, generosity has been a key to the survival of the species. What this does is it allows those who are struggling to have some success and as a result we are all better for it.”
Huge tips are also sometimes seen as easy charity and a “quick and powerful way to give,” Serani said.
And the good feeling works both ways, as both parties experience a “high return.”
In other words, the person leaving a huge tip feels just as good as the person who receives it, Serani said.
(Extra tip: One waitress received 12.000$ tip.)

4. Buy a homeless person food
The fact that ways of altruism end up making you happy, is enough to buy a homeless person food.
It does matter if it’s money or food. Some people are on the streets for bad reasons, while very few are because of bad circumstances. Giving “dry” cash to the homeless is quite a debate. I even found a person cursing people for the death of his brother:
“I live in NYC. Every day I watch panhandlers beg for money. Almost all who collect cash from rich people here are addicts. They are fooling people into believing they are homeless when they are not. My brother made $200/day panhandling. I blame every person who gave him cash for his heroin OD in November 2013.“
5. Hold the door for someone
Holding the door open for someone is the move of a gentleman done in the old movies, right? I don’t think so.
Holding the door open is a polite and thoughtful act you can easily do for your family, friends and strangers every day. Whether you’re at the grocery store, at school, at work, or at home, those around you will certainly appreciate your chivalry.
How you treat others can also say a lot about you. Actions speak louder than words. Everyone appreciates a polite act, like having a door held open for them.
Hold a door open for someone and give them a smile. A small gesture on your part will make their day and may even turn around a bad mood.
6. Donate blood
It is even healthy to donate, claims Health.
Donating blood is a way of helping others and the whole society.
For us, it costs just a few moments out of our day, but for patients in crucial need, it may save their life. Donations is the only way of obtaining blood because despite medical and technological advances, blood cannot currently be made. The only way of getting hold of it is via blood donations from people who give blood.
7. Help your neighbor
Having a bad relations with your neighbor can make your life frustrating. But, on the contrary, taking the time to establish good terms with your neighbours has various benefits. The community will be friendlier, the neighborhood safer, and the area will be nicer and more comfortable place to live.
Not only helping your neighbor to “give them a hand”, but in numerous ways:
1. Be aware of shared walls – you are in a “neighborhood.” Be aware of it, unless you have soundproof walls.
2. Watch where you park – it may be comfortable to you to park at your neighbors garage, but that won’t bring any good relations. Parking in a suitable place is crucial to last with good relations (in my own experience.)
3. Alert for party – although I am in a more friendlier neighborhood, you might want to knock and alert your neighbors about your upcoming birthday party.
4. Take care of your barbecue smell – if you are the barbecue type of a guy, control the smell of it. Place it in a position where it might not aim directly at your neighbors bedroom!
5. Communicate – at last, sustain communication with your neighbors. After all, we are all humans, unless you live next to an alien!
8. Donate clothes to charity
Instead of throwing your clothes in your trash, and destroying that piece of clothing for which once was used material and workforce to make, you can donate the clothes to charity or give it to your nearest homeless shelter.
First, it feels good that you got rid of your pile of clothes you haven’t worn in years, and second, it also feels good that you warm some soul out there and made their day. Giving others without the need of return is the best kind of altruism.
(Extra tip: Americans now discard an average of 68 pounds of clothes every year.)
9. Ask someone about their day
This is an act where you WANT to do it. If you really want to know someone’s day, you ask it. It can cause adverse effect when you do it like a robot. Start from your point of view.
You can be more creative and ask different questions:
1. “What made you laugh today?”
2. “What happened today that was totally unexpected?”
3. “Who did you see that made you happy?”
4. “What did you enjoy doing the most today?”
The questions above gets someone to remember something specific, shifts their mind from the routine of saying “It was fine” in order to backtrack an entire day, and gets them to talk about something positive.
10. Tell people when you receive a good service
If you’ve ever worked in your life, you know the feeling when you get praised for the service you gave. On the other side, as a customer, it is always great choice to tell people you were being served good. It fills people in the inside, giving them will to extend that kindness on the other customers.
Also, when we receive bad service, we should inform that too. That can go so far, that it may even help the whole business grow. Never let your emotions take over when you’re on duty. There are exceptional ways to make people like you.
Did you do any warmhearted things today?
