What do you get when you cross very cold water with very hot glass? In most cases, you get a pretty wet and nasty cut and some broken glass, but if the water’s very cold and the glass just hot enough, you might get something called a Prince Rupert’s Drop.
As far as a piece of glass goes, a Prince Rupert’s Drop is quite remarkable: its main body is nigh-on indestructible, but anything so much as a gentle caress on the tail will shatter the entire structure faster than you can say: “should I have been wearing gloves for this?”
