However, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell’s story defies the dominant discourse. The couple has been dating each other for 34 years!

Yes, you read it right. 34 years! This Hollywood couple have been together since 1983. But they never got married. About the speculations about their relationship and an eventual marriage, Hawn in an interview said: “Everyone always asks the same question, we are kind of having fun with it.”

For Hawn and Russell, it was not love at first sight. The couple first met on the sets of The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band in 1968. Hawn recalls: “I thought he was adorable, but he was much too young.” At that time, Russell was just 16 and Hawn was 21. In 1969, the latter married dancer Gus Trikonis. This marriage lasted for seven years. Soon after her divorce, Hawn wed Bill Hudson. Russell too, in 1979, married Season Hubley and their marriage lasted for four years.

It was not until 1983, on the sets of Swing Shift, that the two started dating each other which eventually led to a never-ending relationship. They started living together as partners and had Wyatt Russell in 1986. By that time, Hawn already had two kids with Hudson and Russell had one with Hubley. Although being a step daughter of Russell, actress Kate Hudson looks at him as a real father figure.

After decades of a successful career in Hollywood, the couple was recently now honored by their stars at the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Hollywood Walk of Fame is a famous 18-block tourist attraction which features the names of some of the greatest actors and actresses of Hollywood. The couple was honored with their double stars at the same time on the same day.

The prestigious ceremony actually became a stage for the couple to “make it official”. Both spoke about the love and support they have got from each other. “Goldie to you, I owe my wonderful life…there’s no one else I’d rather be next to (on the Walk of Fame and in life) than Goldie Hawn,” Russell said at the ceremony. And what is the secret of being in a relationship for so long? Goldie says: “It’s growing together. You can’t just go along and say ‘This is the way I am, so whatever’. No, you really try and to be better and better.”

Their love has been cemented on the Walk of Fame for eternity!
