10 Ways To Supercharge Your Dopamine Levels to Never Feel Depressed or Anxious Again

Dopamine can be called the magic neuron, given the amount of processes it controls. There are many ways to control and stimulate this neuron and help many conditions starting from anxiety, depression, fear and so on.

Dopamine is the neuron behind the reward mechanism, which is what makes drugs addictive, say cocaine for example. What gives you the dopamine high is the binding of the opiate receptors in your brain which often leads to addiction, which says enough about the desirability of a dopamine high.

A regular human being gets his dopamine high in a smaller scale through activities like getting paid, having sex, winning a game and so on, but there are other ways to stimulate the bundle of these neurons in the brain that activates the high.

Having said all of this, one must also remember that dopamine does not have much to do with feeling happy or other stuff of the kind. It helps us gain focus and keep things like depression and anxiety at bay and really get productive and get things done.

1. Exercise

Physical movement activates the dopamine receptors in your brain and releases serotonin and endorphins. That helps you ward away feelings of depression and stress and helps us to be really focused and be the best version of ourselves.

2. Make a to do list

Your brain dumps huge amounts of dopamine every time you complete something. No matter how small the task is, it is the completion that really matters, so make a list of things you plan to do in a day and after completing each task, tick it off your list.

3. Eat foods that stimulate Dopamine

Tyrosine is the amino acid that is the precursor of dopamine. The following foods are rich in tyrosine:

– Eggs, Green tea, Milk, Watermelon, Coffee, Almonds, Bananas, Dark Chocolate, Yogurt

4. Reduce Your Lipopolysaccharides

It is an endotoxin that messes with your immune system and stunts the release of dopamine. Gut protecting foods, like yogurt or taking probiotics, will help you reduce the level of lipopolysaccharides and helps you release more dopamine.

5. Detox

Detoxing is important if you really want to help your dopamine levels. It can be a detox with juice cleanse, a lot of fibre, refraining from consuming fried foods to get rid of the toxins in your body and keep it fresh.

6. Uplifting Music

This is more effective than one might think. Listening to uplifting music causes peak emotional moments in a person’s brain and makes their brain “sing”, making them feel truly uplifted and motivated. This feeling brings about a quite significant dopamine high.

7. Get creative

The moment you start getting more creative, your dopamine levels increases. Creativity is not limited to just arts and crafts. It can be anything, starting from cooking, dancing, designing, writing and so on. Creativity gives you an unparalleled dopamine high.

8. Positivity

When you actively adopt a positive behavior and real positivity, it does wonders to the dopamine levels in your body. Try starting a winning streak and closely follow it and make sure that you really try your best and not do anything unmotivated.

9. Supplement

Our dopamine levels can also be raised by taking supplements:

– Gingko Biloba is known to help dopamine levels.
– Curcumin in turmeric is pretty effective in raising the dopamine levels in your body
– Acetyl-l-tyrosine is a building block of dopamine, so a healthy dose of it supports the production of dopamine in the brain
– L-Theanine increases neurotransmitters in your brain, dopamine being one of them. Green tea is a rich source of this.

10. Yoga and meditation

Yoga and meditation makes you feel good inside, calming you and helping you handle stress better. When all of this happens, the neurotransmitters in your brain are activated and there are huge dopamine dumps.
