As I recently re-watched all the parts of the movie Matrix in one breathe by standing in front of the television for twelve straight hours I was stunned! When I was a kid I didn’t grasped the vivid message that Joel Silver wants to share with the world. Although in almost every movie “love” wins and this movie wasn’t any different. Well, of course it is different. It wouldn’t be on the top charts movies of all time if it wasn’t. But what was fascinating was the bad guy Agent Smith.
We know that every side has a good side. If you see the idea of both opposing forces, the machines and the people, they have different theory of what is good and what is bad. Everyone seeks for power and ruling the world. You can’t say what is right and what is wrong, right? Some people want chaos, vengeance, retribution, revenge, and some want peace, unity, and safe world. You cannot lurk in people mind and say what is wrong and what is right because they have different life experience which formed their brain differently. As long as we oppose, there always will be another site giving the push back.
However, let’s get back to my point. Agent Smith is the crack between the worlds, the actual world, and the world of the machines. He grew very powerful army and he “unplugged” from the world of the machines. While standing in front of Morpheus he gave one intriguing speech:
I’d like to share a revelation that I’ve had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species and I realized that you’re not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment but you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed and the only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet. You’re a plague and we are the cure.
By defying this speech we can conceive that this connotation is absolutely true. People are like virus. It’s happening all the time and its spreading. We definitely do not develop natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment. The forces between people are not balanced and they just keep pushing until this world really is destroyed. It’s clearly stated by Joel Silver (the producer of Matrix) that the world is going downhill as the years are passing by. It’s a science fiction movie but this guy has a point!
All the species know their niche and they know the limitations. We humans don’t. Have you seen the commercials about “make second or third child”? The government gives you money every month if you do. At least in my country for 3th child you receive money. What is that telling us? It’s telling us that they are afraid of extinction and there won’t be anymore “Macedonians”. However it all breaks down to my theory I mentioned before “everyone seeks for power and ruling the world”. More people more power, more power the scale escalades and you go to no.1 power of the world.
I don’t want to go deep on that subject but I have another solving theory. When we are newborns we just want to satisfy our needs. Along the way as society fill our head and make us believe that power is the world’s most important subject makes us suppose that is inevitable. This is the biggest lie that sucks our happiness. Why? Because by chasing other truths of how we suppose to live and chase the power to be happy, we lose not even happiness, but also our health. And believe me without health you won’t make it far because it’s number one state you need to have before taking another step.
Don’t follow what people think you should do because you are the only one who knows what you want to chase and how you want to fulfill your happiness. Comfort Zone is the enemy! Every successful person made it that far, not because they chased the money (the power) but because they did what they love and money came along the way. Poverty is great for control. Give them little piece of bread to live and they will live satisfied for the rest of their lives. Here goes the twist. Throw all the pieces of bread and go get your dream!
If Smith would follow the orders from the machines there would be no Matrix 2 or Matrix 3 and he wouldn’t be that powerful. There is one more example that “the sheep went out of the herd” and made it very very far.
