SELF-IMPROVEMENT

9 Brian Tracy Quotes According to Shawshank Redemption

Although very hard to combine Brian Tracy’s wisdom with Shawshank Redemption, we can quote his words and connect them with Andy and Red.

Still number one on IMDB “The Shawshank Redemption” nominated for 7 Oscars and another 15 wins & 16 nominations, is one of my favorite movies of all time.

There are so many things to learn from this movie that we can even connect them with Brian Tracy!

If Andy (Tim Robbins) could cope with staying in jail innocent and manage to escape from it with spoon, I think we can at least try to succeed in life.

The next 9 Brian Tracy quotes will give you a bit of inspiration and motivation to chase your vision.

1. “Develop an attitude of gratitude, and give thanks for everything that happens to you, knowing that every step forward is a step toward achieving something bigger and better than your current situation.”

Although, hard to say for a guy who falsely goes to prison for murdering his wife and her lover, Andy finds himself as a free man in the jail. He put his pants up, he took over step by step and he managed to escape from prison. He knew that he was going forward step by step and after 19 years he did escaped as a free man.

2. “It doesn’t matter where you are coming from. All that matters is where you are going.”

Coming from a guy that was sentenced to jail for two life sentences back to back, one for each of his victims, Andy made a life longing friend “Red” and managed to escape from the jail after 19 years.

We are not Andy and we are free. It doesn’t matter where are we coming from, but we need to make a path to where we are going. Andy is clear example of how should one man claim his success in 19 years.

3. “Look for the good in every person and every situation. You’ll almost always find it.”

“Look for the good in every prison and every situation” will suit best in this case. If Andy looked bad in the situation, he would never become the “Andy” we saw in “The Shawshank Redemption.” Because his “I’m Innocent” didn’t worked out in the beginning, he prepared himself for 19 years to prove that.

4. “Everything you do is triggered by an emotion of either desire or fear.”

I mean, the guy was innocent. He couldn’t give his eyes to the state police so he was driven by desire to create a master plan to escape the prison by digging a tunnel, throwing the dirt in the yard, and hiding the hole in the wall with a poster. If he wasn’t Triggered By The Fear of the surrounding and by the emotion of desire, he would never make it, as Red said at the beginning.

5. “An attitude of positive expectation is the mark of the superior personality.”

Although Andy never knew his character after he was thrown in jail for false accusations, he developed himself and made a master plan only by his attitude of positive expectations. Day by day, after 19 years, he proved himself as a man with superior personality.

6. “The act of taking the first step is what separates the winners from the losers.”

Although most of the time the story about Andy was narrated by other people, we grasp that Andy chose to make the first step and go out as a winner. He even encouraged Red to leave his little world called “jail” after 40 years and follow his guidance to find him in the free world.

Everything starts with the first step. If we have the power to endure in taking steps towards our vision, we will always finish as winners.

7. “Whatever you believe with feeling becomes your reality.”

Andy is a clear example that believing, feeling and doing become a reality. Every achievement start with a thought, firm believe, and strong feeling. Afterwards, action takes its place and we will combine our vision with reality. Staying in jail and escaping after 19 years of innocence is great example of believing, feeling and action.

8. “You have within you, right now, everything you need to deal with whatever the world can throw at you.”

Until we face a situation where we need to overcome Harsh Problems and solve them to survive, we will never feel the power we have within us. I’m not saying Andy should have been accused of jail for false accusations, but he was thrown with the wolves and managed to deal with them after being innocent. He would never unlock his true potential if he wasn’t accused to go to jail.

We need to take the first step and start fighting for our imaginary picture of our future. We are capable of solving every god damn problem the world can throw at us. Andy said “Get busy living or get busy dying.”

9. “Move out of your comfort zone. You can only grow if you are willing to feel awkward and uncomfortable when you try something new.”

Andy was thrown out of his Comfort Zone unwillingly. He was forced to become the man he did become. We don’t have to be falsely accused to go to jail to have something to fight for. We have a vast world full of opportunities. It’s pity not to explore the world, learn new cultures and see how different people live and how easy everything is when we are full of knowledge.

We can make everything possible only if we want it bad. Otherwise we will stay the normal average person that lives an empty life.
