    I originally answered 1, using the same logic as you employed. However, PEMDAS/BODMAS, doesn’t dictate that to be the case. Because the division symbol ÷ and / are the same, why do you insist that the 1/3 must be evaluated first? As there are no brackets around the 1/3, one could interpret the ÷ and the / to be of the same “precedence” and since the ÷ is left of the /, perhaps it should be evaluated first.

    This is counter to my learning, of course, but I don’t think PEMDAS/BODMAS in itself dictates an answer of 1.
