Why Loners Are The Most Loyal And Intellectual People You Will Ever Meet

“I am completely a loner. In my head I want to feel I can be anywhere. There is a sort of recklessness that being a loner allows me.” ― Arundhati Roy

The world today is in a state of flux. There are thousands of connections being made every second thanks to widespread networking; if you are not social, you cease to exist. There are some people who couldn’t care less. Yes, I am talking about loners.

Loners are fluent in silence and mind their own business. They do not participate in the humdrum of daily life that is “full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.” They are rebels in their own right, living in their own world and not conforming to society’s need for socializing.

Nobody enjoys the company of others as intensely as someone who usually avoids the company of others.” ― Mokokoma Mokhonoana

This quote captures the essence of an extroverted loner. Sounds like a paradox, doesn’t it? But these are the best kind of people you’ll meet. They have no hang ups in being social and will make friends, but they will always prefer solitude. When they choose to be friends with you, you are extremely special to them. They do not just hang out with anyone, and you can depend on them for honest opinions as they do not try to please anyone.

I dislike interaction. The less I say the better I feel. I was naturally a loner. I didn’t want conversation, or to go anywhere. I didn’t understand other people who wanted to share their emotions…I didn’t make for an interesting person. I didn’t want to be interesting, it was too hard. What I really wanted was only a soft, hazy space to live in, and to be left alone. Relationships never worked with me. I always lost interest. I simply disliked people, crowds, anywhere, except at my readings.” ― Charles Bukowski

This will open the soul of any introverted loner. These people are generally thought to be the “lonely” lot but they find comfort that way. They resort to social media for interactions and do not like hanging out.

Quiet people always know more than they seem. Although very normal, their inner world is by default fronted mysterious and therefore assumed weird. Never underestimate the social awareness and sense of reality in a quiet person; they are some of the most observant, absorbent persons of all.” ― Criss Jami

Whatever may be the case, they are the most compassionate and intelligent people who are loyal to their ideals and their loved ones. The fact that they choose to be with you despite their awkwardness, shows how much they value your company. They will carry your secrets to the grave and will always go out of their way to help you. They are super protective and intuitive. Loners do not engage in meaningless gossip and treasure deep conversations. They are amazing people filters and only keep in touch if they find a spiritual connection.

They are thinkers and are almost always broadening the horizon of their thought with the help of a new book or the internet. Social beings have to multitask but loners devote time and energy to one thing at a time. They can see through the masks that people wear and know when people want to manipulate them. They have a deeper understanding of life and thus do not dare to disturb the universe. The only person they can control is themselves, which is why you’ll never see them taking things for granted, being dishonest or judgmental. They want to enjoy life without the pressure of having to fit in and play a part. They are comfortable being themselves.

You get so alone at times that it just makes sense.” ― Charles Bukowski
