Injured Dolphin Approached Divers For Help. Nothing Could Prepare Them For What They Saw

During a night dive last January at Gadren Eel Cove in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii; a bottlenose dolphin caught in a fishing line approached scuba diver Keller Laros for help.

The dolphin’s left pectoral fin was stuck, wrapped around fishing line with a hook embedded into its body. The divers, who were well-equipped, signaled the dolphin to come over.

Thanks to Martina Wing this amazing footage was caught on film.

This is an awesome example of how smart animals truly are, especially dolphins!

Just recently the scientific community recognized the consciousness of animals! An international group of prominent scientists signed The Cambridge Declaration on Consciousness in which they are proclaiming their support for the idea that animals are conscious and aware to the degree that humans are — a list of animals that includes all mammals, birds, and even the octopus. But will this make us stop treating these animals in totally inhumane ways?

India also just recently recognized dolphins as non-human persons and officially banned all dolphin shows! This is definitely a step in the right direction!

But its only because of Men (greedy and egoist) that many animals are loosing their habitat and suffering to extiction..As if their lives wasnt enough hard.

THAT’S REALLY AMAZING THAT SO MANY ANIMALS COME TO US, HUMANS, FOR HELP… DO THEY KNOW THAT WE ARE THE REASON FOR THEIR PAIN? THEY MUST SENSE IT SOMEHOW.. IT’S OUR FAULT, WE MUST FIX IT. IT’S YOUR FAULT! FIX IT!

Great to see and hopefully the Dolphin won’t get tangled up again, and good lesson to learn from game fishermen not to throw unwanted lines and hook in the water.

The WONDERFUL WWW has enabled us to see such activities that until now were only seen by individuals. I daily see videos of animals interacting with different species that we including academics “knew” would never happen like a lion and a dog being friends or the incredibly smart Border Collies learning behaviors that would be difficult for our children!
